How It Works

STEP 1: Reserve your steer with a deposit to secure the next available butcher date. This deposit goes toward your final total, which is based on the weight of your finished, packaged beef.

STEP 2: After harvest, your steer will dry age for 7–14 days. Then you'll receive a cut sheet from the butcher to choose your preferred cuts.

STEP 3: Once your steer is ready, Wolf Pack Meats will notify us. We’ll contact you to arrange pickup either at our ranch or directly from Wolf Pack Meats

At pickup, you’ll pay the remaining balance based on the total weight of meat received from the butcher. We keep it simple: you pay only for the meat you take home—no confusing “hanging weight” pricing.

Reserve Your Steer – Deposit Options

  • Quarter Steer (approx. 150 lbs take-home): $555 deposit — $10.00/lb (full price)

  • Half Steer (approx. 300 lbs take-home): $777 deposit — $9.50/lb (5% discount)

  • Whole Steer (approx. 600 lbs take-home): $1,500 deposit — $8.50/lb (15% discount)

Availability:
Your steer will be ready for pickup in late fall after grazing through the summer on Reno’s lush green pastures — ensuring rich flavor and premium quality.

Final Payment:
The remaining balance is due at pickup. It’s calculated as:
Final packaged weight × price per pound – deposit paid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the steers grass-fed and grass-finished?
Yes. All of our cattle are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, raised stress-free on open pastures in Reno, NV.

How much freezer space do I need?
You’ll need about 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 28 lbs of meat. For a half steer (approx. 300 lbs), we recommend a 14 cubic foot freezer. Properly vacuum-sealed beef stays fresh for over a year.

How much meat do I get from a half steer, and what kind?
A half steer yields about 300 lbs of packaged meat, broken down roughly as:

  • 50% ground beef and bones

  • 30% roasts

  • 20% steaks

  • Plus: bones and organ meats if requested

Can I customize my cuts?
Yes! You’ll receive a cut sheet from the butcher so you can choose standard cuts or make special requests.

How is the beef packaged?
All meat is vacuum-sealed, flash-frozen, and clearly labeled — ready for your freezer.

How long does the butchering process take?
The entire process takes around 2–3 weeks from the time your steer goes to the butcher, including 7–14 days of dry aging.

Do I pay the butcher separately?
No. Butcher fees are included in our $lb finished weight price. What you pay is all-inclusive.

Where do I pick up my meat?
Once your meat is ready, we’ll contact you to arrange pickup. You can collect it from either:

  • Lazetich Ranch – Reno, NV 89511

  • Wolf Pack Meats – 5895 Clean Water Way, Reno, NV 89502

I paid my deposit — now what?
Once your deposit is made, contact Pete to find out when the next group of steers is headed to the butcher. Timing can vary — sometimes weeks to a few months — depending on where the cattle are in their natural growth cycle.

Can I split a steer with family or friends?
Absolutely! Many people split a half or whole steer with others. Just make sure one person handles the deposit and pickup coordination.

Do the steers really come from Reno, NV?

Yes, Lazetich Ranch’s cattle are all born and raised in south Reno
